Intro to Scent work

Intro to Scent Work is an engaging and comprehensive 6-week Foundation course designed specifically for pet dogs and their owners. This unique program delves into the fascinating world of scent detection, which is intrinsically valuable for all dogs, regardless of breed or age. The Intro to Scent Work course covers a wide range of essential skills that are foundational to successful scent detection. Including teaching dogs how to target specific scents or odours effectively and developing passive indication techniques.

Throughout the 6-week program, participants will work on building their dog's motivation and confidence, which are crucial for successful searching. The course fosters teamwork between the dog and handler, encouraging them to communicate effectively and work collaboratively to achieve their goals. Handling skills are also a significant component of the training, as owners learn how to guide their dogs through various exercises and searches. These exercises will include conducting a variety of linear searches, where dogs will practice following scent trails in different environments, further honing their abilities and enhancing their problem-solving skills. The Intro to Scent Work course is open to all dogs that can cope in a group setting.
